Full-Time Contract
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pennsylvania Level II teaching certification
- Track record or evidence of improving student achievement in their classroom;
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of and experience in:
- Content
- Instructional Strategies/Differentiation
- Technology integration and class management
- Conditions of Learning
- Assessment driven instruction (teaching/learning process)
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional approaches,
resources and technologies across the content areas;
- Demonstrated skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision making;
- Interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills required to effectively facilitate coaching and staff development;
- Ability to design and/or broker (individually or in collaboration with others) high
quality professional development for teachers/school staff;
- Knowledge of equity issues in current education reform;
- Knowledge and skills to implement a standards-based education system and
familiarity with PA Core and Academic Standards
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The coach's goal is to ensure that school staff acquires the understanding and skills to enhance instructional practices at the classroom level by:
- Identifying areas of student need through data analysis, with additional data sought as needed
- Helping teacher choose appropriate instructional practices to meet student needs, with monitoring and adjustment as needed; focused on increasing appropriate differentiation based on student need
- Increasing student engagement
Other Essential Job Functions
- Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet student’ varying needs and interests.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students for whom they are responsible.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
- Assign and grade class work and homework (as appropriate)
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
- Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
- Assume any other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal.
